During the latest episode of his Kliq This podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash praised Bron Breakker’s recent work in the ring and on the mic. However, he stubbornly refused to use the second-generation wrestler’s WWE ring name, declaring, “I’m just going to call him Bronson Steiner.” This is because he values authenticity, having known him since he was a child through his close friendships with his father, Rick, and his uncle, Scott Steiner.
WWE has a long-standing practice of assigning new ring names to second- and third-generation wrestlers to avoid preconceived expectations from family legacies and secure trademark ownership for merchandising and branding. Notable examples include Windham Rotunda debuting as Husky Harris before becoming Bray Wyatt, Taylor Rotunda being named Bo Dallas, and Joe Hennig performing as Michael McGillicutty and later Curtis Axel. This approach appears to allow talent to forge their own paths while protecting WWE’s intellectual property. Still, some fans criticize this policy, mainly because many of the selected ring names are so eccentric.
