Why Wrestler Returning To AEW At This Time Was So Unexpected

During the January 8, 2026, episode of AEW Dynamite, an angle was taped before the show went live. In this, he aligned with Mark Davis in a pre-show angle, attacking the Young Bucks and Jack Perry after their match. And while fans were thrilled that the popular wrestler is now officially All Elite, it has come as a surprise, as the former now-former TNA wrestler was advertised ahead of TNA’s move to Mark Davis next week. This suggests the marketing department wasn’t aware that his contract would expire at the end of 2025.

36-year-old Doyle trained at the ROH Dojo and debuted in 2010 with Insanity Pro Wrestling. Subsequently, he competed on the independent circuit, with his big break coming at TNA, where he worked initially as Jake Deaner as part of the “The Deaners with kayfabe cousin  Cody Deaner. And while he would wrestle three times for AEW against Jay Lethal, Matt Sydal, and Danhausen. However, at the time, this didn’t result in a contract offer, so after working for New Japan, he returned to TNA.
