Following The Rock’s return to WWE television, it looked inevitable that he would be wrestling Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 40. Yet, after Saturday night’s Royal Rumble premium live event, the main event currently appears to be Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes in a rematch from last year’s WrestleMania. However, during Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that The Rock and Reigns are still scheduled to have a match, although he doesn’t know when or where.
“It is going to be Cody and Roman Reigns in a singles match. A Dwayne and Roman Reigns match, whenever it is, is still happening. I just don’t know where.”
Dave MeltzerEarlier this week, the 51-year-old Hollywood actor was appointed to TKO’s Board of Directors, so therefore, it’s possible he just doesn’t have the time required at present to promote his first full wrestling match in over a decade. Nevertheless, it does appear the dream match will one day occur, but it could potentially now be outside of a WrestleMania setting.
