WBD Issues Statement Following Brody King’s Dynamite Absence With Real Reason Now Known

On Thursday morning, Dave Meltzer claimed on Wrestling Observer Radio that Brody King did not appear live on Dynamite due to his anti-ICE views, with WBD concerned about a potential repeat of last week’s loud chant “F*ck ICE” on air. However, WBD has now told several wrestling journalists via a statement that it denies this outright. Further, PWInsider.com has reported King was never scheduled for last night’s taping due to being scheduled to fly out of LAX around the same time.

Warner Bros. Discovery did not have any involvement in Brody King’s upcoming AEW schedule. Any speculation to the contrary is categorically false. Brody is scheduled to appear during the next AEW event, which will air this Saturday on TNT and HBO Max.Warner Bros. Discovery

When Tony Khan partnered with WBD to air Dynamite, it immediately cemented its status as WWE’s primary competitor. And while it’s understood that Khan has creative freedom, WBD management has, in the past, blocked talent from appearing in the promotion due to controversial past social media posts, with Jay Briscoe and Trey Miguel both missing out on AEW careers because of this. Therefore, it seemed believable when Meltzer reported that they had pulled the plug on King because of fears of further chants.
