One of the most shocking stories in rock last year was the implosion of Jane’s Addiction. During a Boston concert, singer Perry Farrell had an onstage altercation with guitarist Dave Navarro. Farrell got in Navarro’s face and lashed out at him while a visibly confused Navarro put up a hand to Farrell’s chest. The singer then appeared to throw a punch at him. A roadie and bassist Eric Avery stepped in to hold an irate Farrell back, and they forced the singer offstage.

There were a few explanations for what happened with Farrell initially saying he was upset over stage volume before he backtracked and apologized. The band’s guitar tech later said: “(Farrell) was clearly f*cked up, and we knew it from the moment we saw him earlier in the day,” he said. “I feel for (Farrell), because something is going on mentally. He looked crazed. I know this band is over with, but I really do hope that he’s able to figure things out.”

The band would go on to cancel the remainder of their tour, and it doesn’t look like there’s going to be a reconciliation anytime soon that involves Farrell. However, the remaining band members are apparently working on music as revealed in an Instagram post by Avery. “Writing some more new lines to some of Stephens drumming,” wrote Avery. “Look forward to getting some Mr Navarro on them. 2025!”
