When rumors first started to spread about a new AEW show titled Collision, it was said the program would be built around CM Punk’s AEW return. However, last week stories circulated that Punk may have reneged on his agreement to return to the promotion due to being told Ace Steel (quietly re-hired) would not be attending Collision tapings in person. Now though, it appears cooler heads have prevailed as Fightful Select has reported that those close to Punk believe he will be at Collision’s premiere, which is expected to be in Chicago.
From the Punk side of things, we’ve heard that there have been productive conversations over the last week, though we weren’t provided a lot of context to that. People close to Punk believe he will be at the first AEW Collision on June 17.
Fightful SelectPunk has been out of action since last year’s All Out with a torn triceps sustained in the main event against Jon Moxley. Yet, it’s been known he has been medically cleared for several weeks, so his return was all about the right time and place, with Collision now looking set to be the second coming of the second city saint.
