Update On Alex Hammerstone’s MLW Contract Status Following Release Request

Last month, it was reported that Alex Hammerstone, who had been with MLW since 2019, had requested his release from the company despite having over a year remaining on his deal. Initially, MLW would deny his request, and after Hammerstone appeared at their MLW Fightland on November 18, it appeared he had worked out his differences with the promotion, or the whole thing had been a work. However, it has now been confirmed by Fightful Select that the situation was legitimate, and Hammerstone agreed to return to the promotion until the end of the year in exchange for his release.

Over the years, the 32-year-old has attended three WWE tryouts but has been unsuccessful each time, with MLW owner Court Bauer claiming in interviews the company thinks he looks too similar to Triple H to hire. Additionally, he had tried out for Impact Wrestling, previously wrestling on their Impact Wrestling Xplosion show, but was rejected again. This time, according to Tommy Dreamer, for looking too much like former ECW original Shane Douglas.
