Danhausen hasn’t appeared on AEW television for over a year and has only made one brief appearance for ROH. Therefore, with his contract expiring in July, most assumed his time being All Elite would soon be over. Yet, despite July having come and gone, he remains listed on AEW’s website.
And now, explaining why, Fightful Select has reported that AEW opted to extend his contract into next year, seemingly due to him having missed time through injury. Precisely why AEW made this decision is unknown, although it was recently reported that WWE was interested in signing him and Private Party when their deals expired.
We’re told by AEW sources that Danhausen’s contract would have been up on July 1, however there were months added to Danhausen’s contract that take the contract well into 2026. It was believed that Danhausen had requested they not pick up the option.”Fightful Select
35-year-old Donovan Danhausen is best known for his comedy wrestling style, and some have suggested his over-the-top character didn’t fit in with AEW’s in-ring focused product. Still, despite his absence from television, he has been permitted to work independent shows and attend fan conversations, meaning he has been getting paid twice, which likely comes in useful considering he recently became a father.
