AEW has been on the receiving end of fan backlash on social media after not acknowledging the death of Hulk Hogan. However, it appears their detractors were too quick to condemn Tony Khan’s promotion, as during Collision, the first AEW show since Hogan’s passing, Tony Schiavone took a moment to pay tribute to Hogan’s contributions to the business, in addition to offering condolences to the two-time WWE Hall of Famer’s family.
Back in 2020, Khan grabbed headlines after he revealed that Hogan was banned from AEW due to racist remarks. Therefore, when AEW failed to acknowledge his passing in the hours after his death, many felt it was due to Khan’s past statement and used it as an excuse to attack his company. And while it will likely never be known if AEW initially planned to ignore Hogan’s passing, but changed their stance after the online criticism, in the end, having his former WCW colleague address this on-air was a classy move.
