While Cody Rhodes doesn’t typically go into detail regarding his AEW exit, he recently said that he wasn’t prepared to “feel disrespected at something I built with my friends … I wouldn’t stand for it.” And now on the Q101 podcast, Tony Khan has responded, saying he doesn’t fully agree but gives Rhodes the benefit of the doubt due to his heavy interview schedule. Additionally, he would take the high road and avoid any further drama by saying, “I have only good things to say about him and his contributions here.”
40-year-old Rhodes is considered a founding father of AEW, alongside Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks, all of whom served as executive vice presidents of the company. And while Chris Jericho is widely considered the biggest star at launch, Rhodes soon established himself as a focal point of AEW television, with his feuds a highlight for viewers. However, Rhodes departed in February 2022 due to personal and business issues with Khan, which have never been fully explained and may never be.
