In concerning news, the family of Tod Gordon, best known for founding the original version of ECW, has issued a statement disclosing that he is currently hospitalized and has been for some time. What’s wrong with the 70-year-old wasn’t stated, although it was requested that fans keep him in their thoughts.
Paul Heyman is credited for igniting a wrestling revolution in the 90s via ECW, but it was actually Gordon who launched the renegade promotion under the name Eastern Championship Wrestling. And while he subsequently dropped out of the wrestling spotlight after selling ECW to Heyman, Gordon was still involved in the business with both 3PW and PWU, going on to be inducted into the Hardcore Hall of Fame in 2009.
