Based on a post made by Dave Meltzer on his messageboard, rumors spread that Thunder Rosa would soon be headed to WWE. Meltzer’s rationale was that because Rosa had dropped her NWA World Women’s Championship to Serena Deeb seemingly out of nowhere, it meant she would be leaving the promotion. However, NWA owner Billy Corgan would deny this and revealed Rosa was signed with the NWA until 2022.
Now speaking to Busted Open, Thunder Rosa has stated that WWE might not be for anyway due to wanting to continue working on her own projects, which bring her a lot of joy in life.
Because of all the projects I have on the side, it has to be a place where I’m able to continue working on what I’m working on. If I’m able to do it with NWA, then NWA. If I’m able to do it with AEW, probably. Now knowing what WWE is doing with things we have on the side, it’s going to be very difficult for me to work on my personal projects. Sometimes, those personal projects are the things that bring you the most joy in life. I don’t want that joy to be taken away from money. If that’s what I have to sacrifice, I’d rather be happy than be a slave.

WWE has a reputation for being a very controlling company with Vince McMahon’s autocratic leadership and recently declared wrestlers couldn’t work with third parties without WWE’s involvement. Based on Rosa’s comments, that would be a big problem for her as signing with WWE would effectively end her MMA career. Given that, AEW would likely be the better destination for her since they support Jake Hager competing in Bellator.
