Third-Generation Wrestler Curtis Axel Arrested

According to a new report from PWInsider.com, former WWE star Joe Hennig, better known to fans as Curtis Axel, was arrested on May 17 in Anoka County, Minnesota. The 46-year-old third-generation wrestler now faces multiple serious charges, including third-degree DUI, test refusal, obstructing legal process, open container violation, and leaving the scene of an accident. Hennig was released from custody two days later, and if found guilty, he likely faces 30-90 days in jail, hefty fines, and a one-year license revocation.

Former WWE star Joseph Hennig aka Curtis Axel, 46, was arrested in Anoka County, Minnesota on 5/17, PWInsider.com can confirm. Hennig, a third-generation star, was charged with DUI, listed as Third-Degree Driving While Impaired, refusal to submit to chemical test (Breath or test refusal or failure), Obstructing the Legal Process-Lawful Execution Legal Process, having an open bottle of alcohol in his car and failure to stop after an accident to property that did not involve injury.’ Court records indicate Hennig was released from jail in 5/19.

Born into one of wrestling’s most legendary families, Hennig is the son of WWE Hall of Famer Curt “Mr. Perfect” Hennig and grandson of Larry “The Axe” Hennig. He initially trained under his father and debuted in 2007, later signing with WWE and wrestling under the name Michael McGillicutty before rebranding as Curtis Axel. Career highlights include winning the Intercontinental Championship in 2013 and later capturing tag team gold with Bo Dallas.
