The Rock Teases Roman Reigns Match For WWE WrestleMania 40 In Philadelphia

WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia could end up being the most anticipated WWE event in quite some time. That will surely be the case if Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson makes good on the tease he gave fans that he’s going to fight his cousin Roman Reigns next April during the two-day WrestleMania Event at Lincoln Financial Field.

Johnson was a guest on the Pat McAfee Show in September when he confirmed rumors that WrestleMania 39 this past year was originally supposed to feature him and Reigns dueling in the ring. Unfortunately, Johnson and WWE officials had creative differences. The two sides couldn’t agree on the storyline that would bring one of the great wrestlers of yesteryear into the ring with Reigns, who is currently one of the top stars of the WWE. However, Johnson says that there is still mutual interest in him making an appearance at WrestleMania 40 against Reigns if those creative differences can be resolved.

If this fight comes to fruition, it would be Johnson’s first WrestleMania appearance in eight years. What better way to do it than with a high-profile bout against the current WWE Universal Champion? The only way fans could be more excited for such a fight would be for sports betting sites to start accepting bets on scripted wrestling events, which is a possibility in the months to come. But even if that doesn’t happen, a match between The Rock and Roman Reigns would undoubtedly make WrestleMania 40 a wrestling event for the ages.
