The Rock Has Suggested Someone Close To His Heart For A WWE Hall Of Fame Induction

Earlier this year, the pro wrestling world was shocked to discover that The Rock had been appointed to TKO’s Board of Directors. And while some wondered whether it was done just for publicity, it appears the Hollywood star is actually getting involved in decision-making because, according to Fightful Select, he has provided input into this year’s WWE Hall of Fame inductees. Additionally, it was noted that while not yet confirmed, he has pitched for his grandmother, Lia Maivia, to be included in the Class of 2024.

“We have since learned that The Rock’s Grandmother Lia Maivia is among the names he suggested.”

Lia Maivia was the wife of “High Chief” Peter Maivia, and following his death in 1982, she took over running Polynesian Pro Wrestling, making her one of the first-ever female wrestling promoters. From there, she would be responsible for putting on shows that drew thousands of fans, although ultimately, the promotion would fold in 1988 with the high cost of bringing in name wrestlers cited as a factor. Sadly, she would pass away in 2008 at the age of 77, but her legacy lives on through her grandson.
