It’s been a tumultuous year so far for the former members of influential metalcore band, Every Time I Die. The band split up after a public falling out with vocalist Keith Buckley, who said the band’s problems have been ongoing for “decades” and the split was “inevitable.” The band, which includes Andy Williams, aka “The Butcher” from All-Elite Wrestling, had previously hinted about carrying on under a new name, and now an Instagram post from guitarist Jordan Buckley hints that might be the case. “Yo how f*ckin dope is it that the only person who knows what our new parts sound like is the dude that was staying at our Air BNB this week?! “ wrote Jordan Buckley. “Thanks for letting us practice Connor! You f*ckin rule!”
Jordan previously said that when Every Time I Die broke up that there “is no replacing Keith which is exactly why we never even gave [carrying on with a new singer] a thought,” and that their “ability to write music together has only gotten better. I wouldn’t even know how to stop.” At a recent spoken word gig, Keith Buckley hinted that Every Time I Die might not be broken up for good. Buckley said that the band’s most recent record, “Radical,” was the one that “finally got us to a Mastadon level. However, it is not the end of anything: I can’t even say what the state of the band is right now. There were a lot of things that happened during the pandemic that still haven’t come out between (Jordan and I) that led to this, there were multiple attempts at communication, therapy and everything. I love therapy… and I went to it, and I encouraged it for the band, but it was cut off, and I didn’t know why. I just feel like I was looked at in bad faith. And I understand that, because I was an alcoholic and I did a lot of terrible things, and so it’s easy to see someone who’s constantly f*cking up their own life and just realise that every decision they make is gonna suck, no matter what… And I know that that bad faith filter had been put on for 20 years …”
