“That Metal Show” Co-Host’s Gigs Get Canceled In Seattle

Comedian Jim Florentine is a lifelong hard rock and metal fan and is the former co-host of “That Metal Show.” Florentine’s long list of credits also includes voicing puppets on Comedy Central’s “Crank Yankers,” appearing regularly on “The Howard Stern Show,” and he’s done several prank-related projects including his “Terrorizing Telemarketers” albums and “Meet The Creeps” hidden camera shows with fellow “That Metal Show” co-host Don Jamieson.

More recently, Florentine, Jamieson and SiriusXM’s Eddie Trunk launched a web version of “That Metal Show” called “That Rocks.”

Last week, Florentine, along with fellow comics Dave Smith, Kurt Metzger and Luis J. Gomez had a series of shows canceled at the Capitol Hill Comedy/Bar in Seattle. The club wrote in a statement: “Given the feedback and to avoid any potential negative impact on both our club and the artists involved, as well as to maintain the harmony within  our community, we believe the most responsible course of action is to  not move forward with the shows for Dave Smith on April 11th, Luis J  Gomez for May 31st-June 1st, Jim Florentine for September 20th-21st and  sadly Kurt Metzger on October 11th-12th as well.”

Basically, the club is woke and worried about the acts of several of the comics they had previously booked.

“I guess I need to clean up my act. My comedy shows in Seattle are cancelled along with @luisjgomez @ComicDaveSmith and @kurtmetzger,” Florentine wrote, although the comedian is clearly taking the cancelation in stride, and the dates have been re-booked by another club in Tacoma, Washington.

“If you listen to my first comedy album, it’s the same s*it I’ve been doing,” Florentine said on his podcast. “I haven’t evolved as a human being, and I don’t want to. I just do what the f*ck I want to do. I’ve never been an a*ss kisser, I don’t live in Hollywood. I don’t give a s*it about that.”

“If I got mad at this, I’d be an asshole,” he continued. “If I wanted to kiss *ss I would’ve moved to Hollywood 25 years ago. I’ll play to whatever f*cking audience likes this s*it and that’s it.”

Numerous fans and fellow comics came to Florentine’s defense. Former “Saturday Night Live” star and longtime comedian Rob Schneider wrote: “Dear Seattle,If you are worried about hearing ideas separate than your own, if a person standing on a stage saying words that may challenge your opinions frightens you, if you only want approved ideas that keep you in your safe political bubble, u can thank your local comedy club.”

Jamieson wrote: “Have never said a negative word on here but Capitol Hill Comedy Club in Seattle can f*ck right off.”

Florentine talked about the situation on his “Everybody Is Awful,” podcast which can be heard below.
