Prior to fronting one of hard rock’s most successful acts of the last 15 years, Taylor Momsen, frontwoman for The Pretty Reckless, had a standout career as an actress. As a child, she famously played the role of Cindy Lou Who in “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” She also later went on to play the character of Jenny Humphrey in The CW hit series “Gossip Girl.”
During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Momsen reflected on her decision to leave “Gossip Girl” to begin her career in rock. Momsen was asked what it was like to “finally be free from the show?”
She said: “It was incredibly exciting. I think I had already checked out long before I finally got the OK, if I’m being honest. Like, mentally I was already gone. So to finally have that kind of weight lifted off my shoulders and know that I was not bound by this thing that was controlling my life anymore was a very freeing feeling and very exciting for me. I saw the world open up to me. As like, I can finally do what I wanna do. And so to have that kind of control of your life is a very powerful feeling.”
Momsen was also asked what she thinks her character from the show would be doing today. “Oh God, I don’t know, hopefully making clothes and kicking *ss.”
