Director Barry Sonnenfeld has a new book out called Best Possible Place, Worst Possible Time, and it’s chock-full of amazing stories from his incredible Hollywood career! He shares a bunch, including his early movie-making days as a cinematographer for the Coen Brothers’ first three movies, including Raising Arizona, and working with director Rob Reiner on Misery, and the events on set that led to a rift in their relationship. He recounts his unlikely move to directing thanks to The Addams Family, how he almost persuaded Michael Jackson to do the music for The Addams Family Values, and how that led to Michael Jackson’s cameo in Men In Black II! Barry talks about Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, and Vincent D’Onofrio in the Men In Black trilogy and explains why Get Shorty is his favorite movie he’s ever made despite the difficult relationship with Gene Hackman!
