Slash has been around the block a time or two both with Guns N’ Roses and also Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. The latter has a new album, “4,” due on Feb. 11 via Gibson Records. Recently the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame guitarist shared the advice he would give to musicians who are just starting out. “The music industry has changed so much since I got into it,” Slash told CNN Indonesia. “It’s hard to sort of give anybody any kind of real advice because I’m still trying to learn how to navigate the sort of new terrain. But I think the most important thing is to stick to the music that you really love — don’t let anybody try and tell you different — and then go and try and figure out how you can connect with an audience and the best way to make that possible and do what you have to do and be prepared to work really, really hard and to sacrifice everything in order to do what you love to do.”
Late last year, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators released the album’s second single, “Fill My World,” a mid-tempo ballad that is a slight departure from the record’s straight-ahead rocking debut single, “The River Is Rising.”
“This was the first time that we actually did all the guitars, bass and drums live at the same time and kept all those tracks, and we also did the vocals live as well,” Slash said in the band’s promotional video for the new album. “This one’s pretty much a live record, from my standpoint,“ Kennedy added. “You’re just trying to kind of document where you are at that point in life and do it in an authentic way.”
The album marks he first release from the well-known guitar manufacturer’s new record label. The band will tour in support of “4” early next year, and the album is available for preorder on Slash’s website in a variety of formats.
