Guns N’ Roses’ last studio record came all the way back in 2008 with “Chinese Democracy.” The album included only singer Axl Rose from the band’s classic lineup.
Guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagen reunited with Rose in 2016, and the band released a handful of singles of re-worked material from past studio sessions. Ever since the trio reunited, there has been speculation from fans that it could lead to a studio album of all new material, but nothing so far has surfaced.
In a new interview with the Daily Star, however, Slash hinted that might soon change. Slash was asked why Axl and Myles Kennedy weren’t featured on his new blues album. “It was my own side thing, so I wasn’t dragging my own guys in,” he said. “Guns N’ Roses are trying to make their own record and I’m working with them in that capacity but this didn’t involve anyone else.
Slash previously revealed that numerous older Guns N’ Roses tracks were re-worked during the pandemic. “There’s a handful of those songs that we actually fixed up and did when we were in lockdown,” he explained to “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk”. “So those have yet to be released. So those are gonna come out. They’re really good, too. So I’m excited for those. We’re just gonna put out like one or two songs, and another one or two songs. And I think that’s gonna be pretty much all of ’em. I’m not sure exactly how many we did in total.”
