Sheamus Reveals He Thought He Was Going To Have To Retire

Sheamus returned triumphantly to the ring this past Monday’s episode of Raw, defeating Ivar in a hard-hitting contest. Yet, while his match delivered in the ring, he has now disclosed on Instagram that during his eight-month injury hiatus, he contemplated retirement, noting the road back was “unimaginably painful.” However, thanks to his doctors, trainers, and physios, he was able to recover and get medically cleared.

“The road back to the ring is slow, rough and unimaginally painful. 2 months ago i thought i was hanging up my boots for good but a lot of doctors, trainers and physios helped get me cleared to do what i love.. fight. #thisiswhatwedo”

46-year-old Sheamus has been with WWE since 2007, although his long-term future with the company is currently uncertain. That is because it was previously revealed that his contract was expiring in early 2024. Still, it should be noted that, with him having missed eight months of action, WWE can simply add that time to the end of his current deal, therefore extending his time with the company to the latter part of the year.
