Last week, the Power Trip festival revealed a powerhouse lineup that includes AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Tool and Ozzy Osbourne. The 3-day event is set for Oct. 6 to 8 in Indio, California.
The show marks the first AC/DC show since 2016. The last time AC/DC played live, it was with Axl Rose filling in for singer Brian Johnson who had to leave the “Rock or Bust” tour due to hearing issues.
Johnson has since returned to AC/DC, though questions remain as to whether or not it will be a one-off for the legendary rockers or if it will lead to more shows and/or tour dates.
Another question mark has been “The Price of Darkness,” Ozzy Osbourne, who announced earlier this year that he was retiring from touring due to health complications.
Ozzy’s wife and manager, Sharon, provided an update recently on “Piers Morgan Uncensored.”
“He’s good. He’s doing so much better. I think I told you about it the other night, but now it’s been announced; we can talk about it. He’s doing a show October 6th in America. It’s at the Coachella site. It’s gonna be a great show: Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, AC/DC, Ozzy…”
When Piers commented that “the rocker is still rocking,” Sharon replied: “He never stopped. He’s back.”
AC/DC and Ozzy are schedule to perform on the same day — Saturday, Oct. 7.
A friend of Ozzy recently told The Sun about the singer’s plan to perform again, even if was seated.
“Ozzy is refusing to give up on his hope of getting on stage despite his statement last month. He has declared: ‘I am gonna f*cking get back on stage.’ He still has issues with his balance and cannot stand unaided for long periods of time on his legs. It frustrates him that doing a full-90 minute show, filled with his famous stage stomping and crowd interactive moves, is off the table. But he is considering doing gigs in a throne, like what Axl did in 2016 with Guns N’ Roses. He was really impressed by that move. And he feels Phil showed that audiences do resonate with you.”
The friend continued: “Ozzy worries that he may not be able to sit still, which could be challenging. But there is talk of bringing in some special effects and even stage machinery to have the chair move around. He feels a lot of options are on the table, but Oz is not ruling out Vegas or L.A. runs.”
Hopefully, Sharon’s promising update comes to fruition and fans will see Ozzy performing as he always has.
