Last month, the new horror movie “Terrifier 2” saw a huge box office jump following reports that moviegoers were vomiting and passing out from watching the film.
PopCrush reported that social media accounts suggested that numerous viewers were getting sick and even fainting in theaters due to the movie’s graphic and unsettling nature. At some theater locations, the staff even reportedly offered up barf bags.
“Listen, I would have loved to have a couple of walk-outs, I think that’s sort of a badge of honor because it is an intense movie,” said director Damien Leone. “I don’t want people fainting, getting hurt during the movie. But it’s surreal. Here’s the thing, it’s called ‘Terrifier 2’, you should probably see ‘Terrifier 1’ before you jump into this one.”
FOZZY frontman Chris Jericho also makes a cameo, and he told Screen Rant that he almost got sick filming a scene. Jericho saw the original “Terrifier” in 2016, and he promoted it to the point it caught the attention of Leone and actor David Howard Thorton, who stars as Art the Clown in both films. Leone wanted to incorporate Jericho in the sequel.
“The original scene that I did was the ending of the movie,” Jericho said. “And in this timeframe, another movie came out with the same ending! Damien had to reshoot it. So my part got kind of cut down. But that’s fine. It’s how it goes.”
“In the film, I have to eat like, a zombie platter,” Jericho continued. “It’s Halloween, so my wife has made all these zombie treats. And one of them was a jellied eyeball. And I think it was kind of custard with some kind of almost the plastic candy, and I had to eat like five of them. And they were cold, and they were gelatinous. And it was really kind of getting to me. It was really gross. And I remember [Damien] was like, ‘Can you just eat one more?’ And I was like, ‘Dude, I’ll eat one more, and then that’s it! Because I’m gonna f*cking puke if I have to do another one of these.'”
