See Slipknot’s New Live Music Video For “The Chapeltown Rag”

Slipknot released the single, “The Chapeltown Rag,” on Nov. 5 and performed the song live for the first time on the same day. “It’s classic Slipknot,” band frontman Corey Taylor said. Now, Slipknot has released a new live music video for the song compiled of 2021 Knotfest Roadshow footage. Slipknot’s new record should be coming in a few months, according to Taylor. “The record is actually in the process of being mixed right now,” he said. “Everything is finished, so it’s just being mixed right now, which is rad news. So it’s probably gonna take… I think it’s probably gonna be another three months. The artwork’s done. We just came up with the title. I’m not gonna tell you it right now. But we’re really stoked. So hopefully three months from now — well, less than that — we’ll get the single out, and then three months from now we’ll get the album out.”

Taylor also said the new album has a title and is darker, heavier and more melodic than previous efforts. “It’s really killer, man. It’s darker than We Are Not Your Kind, but there’s a ton of melody. I’ve been telling everybody that it’s like a heavier version of Vol. 3. It’s got so many textures and layers. The heavy stuff has attack but the melodic stuff you can just sink your teeth in; there’s a lot of great melodies and hooks. I’m really, really excited for people to hear it.”

Previously, Taylor spoke about the “greatest misconception” in Slipknot being that late ex-drummer Joey Jordinson and late ex-bassist Paul Gray wrote all the music for the band. “It couldn’t be further from the truth,” he said. “Everybody writes. Joe and Paul were the ones that would get stuff going, but it would always change from their demo to the main meat of what the song would actually become.”
