Second MLW Talent Has Requested Their Release

On Saturday, news broke that former MLW World Heavyweight Championship Alex Hammerstone had requested his release from Major League Wrestling. And now, Fightful Select has followed up on this by reporting that Lance Anoa’i also wants to depart the company, having recently requested to be allowed out of his contract. Anoa’i last wrestled for MLW in July and, since then, has been competing for the Japanese promotion NOAH.

31-year-old Anoa’i is the son of Samu, who is best known for being one of the Headshrinkers in 90s WWE. He has himself had multiple WWE tryouts over the years but so far has been unsuccessful in his attempts to get signed. Still, the third-generation wrestler did get to compete in a high-profile match on Raw in 2019 against Shane McMahon as part of an angle involving his real-life cousin Roman Reigns.
