Scarlett Bordeaux Expresses Her Frustration With WWE’s Cleavage Policy

Former WWE star Scarlett Bordeaux has revealed how producers repeatedly urged her to cover up her cleavage, leaving her frustrated. Speaking on D-Von Dudley’s podcast, the 35-year-old highlighted what she faced as the company distanced itself from the glamorous Divas Era in favor of a more empowering image. Given her sultry persona, Bordeaux found the feedback conflicted with her character and led her to question her role in the company.

I won’t say who, but some of the producers, every single time, like, before going out there, they’d be like, Can you just cover up the cleavage? Can you just pull that down? I’m like, OK, this is clearly not what we’re going for right now. But he really liked the idea of us two together, because after a few months, I’m like, what am I gonna do here? Because I thought they signed me for this character, and they said they liked it, but they don’t want to use it.– Scarlett Bordeaux

The Divas Era spanned from 1998 to 2016 and celebrated attractiveness and personality over in-ring talent, with stars like Sable, Trish Stratus, and Stacy Keibler thriving through bra-and-panties matches and bikini contests. While criticized for objectification and short match times, this period delivered massive ratings. However, by 2016, WWE officially retired the “Diva” label at WrestleMania 32 to properly launch the Women’s Evolution with longer bouts, main events, and overall more athletic respect for the performers.
