Former Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar and celebrity chef Guy Fieri are co-owners of Santo Spirits. The company offers different kinds of tequila ranging from about $50 to $75 a bottle.
Earlier this month, it was reported that freight trucks carrying $1 million worth of Santo Spirits products was allegedly stolen in what authorities think was a targeted heist. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the theft is believed to be part of an organized crime operation. The outlet reported: “According to a police report, the thieves likely used a GPS emulator to spoof the tracking signal and mislead authorities. The stolen cargo included just over 4,000 cases of tequila, totaling 24,240 bottles of Santo Blanco, reposado and an exclusive extra añejo, which took 39 months to produce.”
Fieri told People: “We’ve worked so hard. This is our best year we’ve ever had in Santo. We just had all this momentum, and now whatever’s on the shelf is all people are going to get.”
Fieri has also offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of the stolen trucks. “It’s like a movie — I never in a million years thought this was coming down the pike like this, but it’s real,” Fieri said.
