According to online sources like Wikipedia and CageMatch, Will Hobbs, now known as Royce Keys, was born in 1991, making him 35 years old. However, in the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported he was actually 41, which caused some confusion among his readers. And now wrestling journalist David Bixenspan has addressed this matter on Bluesky, confirming that there is no record of Keys being born in 1991, which could prove Meltzer was correct. Still, it should be noted that there is no evidence that the former AEW wrestler has ever been deceptive about his age.
“Will Hobbs being in full “now or never” mode makes a lot more sense when you realize that, as the latest Observer quietly indicated, he’s actually 41 years old and not 35 … Just to be clear, I haven’t seen any indication that he lied anywhere about his age (or where the 1991 birth date came from in the first place). But the new Observer says he’s 41, that matches up with available public records, and there was nobody named William Hobson born in CA in 1991 period.” – David Bixenspan
Keys debuted in 2009 after training at All Pro Wrestling in California, where he captured multiple championships over a decade on the independent circuit. Then, in 2020, his career really took off when he joined AEW, adopting the Powerhouse moniker and becoming a one-time AEW TNT Champion and one-time AEW World Trios Champion as part of The Opps. However, he chose to pursue new opportunities in January 2026, when his contract expired, and subsequently signed with WWE just in time to debut at the Royal Rumble.
