The first version of Nation of Domination debuted in the United States Wrestling Association back in 1996, before coming to WWE under Faarooq’s (Ron Simmons) leadership with a Nation of Islam and Black Panther Party feel to it. Over the group lifespan, wrestlers such as Crush, D’Lo Brown, The Godfather, Savio Vega, Mark Henry, Owen Hart, and most famously The Rock were members.
According to a report from Dave Meltzer on his Wrestling Observer Radio show, WWE has been considering re-introducing the group, which is why Ron Simmons was at Raw this week. At present, the group would consist of MVP, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin, who are currently going by the name The Hurt Business.
Initially, nostalgia usually does well in the ratings. Still, following the heartbreaking death of George Floyd, WWE needs to be mindful of how they handle the group’s booking, especially if they were to be characterized as heels.
