Rob Zombie Shares First Look Of Main Characters From Set Of “The Munsters”

Rob Zombie has showcased numerous aspects of his reboot of “The Munsters” via Instagram including cast updates, sets and costuming. Now that the movie is in the filming stages, Zombie has shared another first-look photo of a scene featuring Grandpa, Lily and Herman Munster from his view between takes. “A view from my monitor,” Zombie wrote. “Three very tired Munsters trying to conserve their energy between takes,” he said referencing actors Daniel Roebuck, Sheri Moon Zombie and Jeff Daniel Phillips who have been cast as the three characters. “It’s been a tough one for this trio. Three hours in makeup – 14 hours of shooting – one hour of clean up. Then a drive back to the hotel, grab a few zzz and straight back on set,” Zombie said of the difficult schedule. “It’s definitely the end of a long day here. Outside the stage the [sun] is definitely beginning to rise. Working from sunrise to sunrise. Cheers to these three for always bringing the thunder.”

Earlier this month, Zombie announced that legendary horror actress Cassandra Peterson, best known as “Elvira Mistress of the Dark,” had been cast in the film as real estate agent Barbara Carr. Zombie wrote on Instagram: “ATTENTION CASTING NEWS! Straight from the set of THE MUNSTERS is your first look at Barbara Carr, the #1 real estate agent in all of Mockingbird Heights. Barbara is played by none other the CASSANDRA PETERSON @therealelvira. Yes, the Mistress of the Dark has joined the cast of THE MUNSTERS. Stay tuned for more exciting news to come.”

Peterson also defended Zombie casting his wife in the role of Lily. “Sheri is freaking adorable as Lily Munster,” Peterson said in an interview with Variety. “I see on social media people asking, ‘Why is Rob always casting her?’ Because she’s freaking good. I think she killed it and people will be really surprised and really like her character.” Zombie also said that the reboot is rated PG. “For those of you speculating, wondering and assuming that ‘The Munsters’ would be dirty, violent and nasty…well, you are wrong,” Zombie wrote on Instagram while announcing his reboot’s PG rating. “It’s all good down on Mockingbird Lane.”
