Teaming with his son Dominik at Payback against Seth Rollins and Murphy should have been one of Rey Mysterio’s career highlights. While the Mysterio’s were victorious, it’s been announced by WWE.com has that sadly Rey suffered a torn triceps during the match.
It should be noted this is not a kayfabe injury, like when WWE.com reported on Rey’s recovery following his “Eye for an Eye” match defeat at The Horror Story at Extreme Rules. This injury is genuine and is the same injury that Edge suffered wrestling Randy Orton at Backlash. Like with Edge, it will likely keep Mysterio out for a substantial amount of time. Thankfully for Rey, who had been wrestling without a contract, signed a new deal just before SummerSlam, so will be paid while recovering.
