Rage Against The Machine’s long-awaited reunion tour unfortunately wasn’t without its hiccups. The band kicked off the trek last July, but shortly after, vocalist Zack De La Rocha tore his ACL on stage. The band went on to cancel their European tour as the singer headed to physical therapy. The band would end up also canceling their North American tour as well.
The group was honored with a Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Induction last year, but only guitarist Tom Morello showed up to receive the accolade, leading to speculation there were issues within the band.
Now, drummer Brad Wilk has provided an update saying the band is done with live shows and touring. Wilk wrote on social media that Rage Against The Machine — himself, Morello, De La Rocha and bassist Tim Commerford — won’t play again. The way the announcement was worded has led some fans to believe that perhaps someone in the group might be trying to put together an alternate version of the band.
“I know a lot of people are waiting for us to announce new tour dates for all the canceled RATM shows,” Wilk wrote. “I don’t want to string people or myself along any further. So while there has been some communication that this may be happening in the future… I want to let you know that RATM (Tim, Zack, Tom and I) will not be touring or playing live again. I’m sorry for those of you who have been waiting for this to happen. I really wish it was…”
