When it comes to the live performance at a rock show, injuries and falls, while fairly rare, are still bound to eventually happen. But not like the one suffered by singer Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless.
The band got the support slot of a lifetime when it was announced earlier this year that they would be going on tour with rock legends AC/DC. Most rock and metal fans are familiar with the Ozzy Osbourne story when “The Prince of Darkness” bit the head off a live bat during a show. Ozzy thought it was a plastic toy thrown on stage by a fan, but it turned out to be the real thing.
In Momsen’s case, a bat bit her. Momsen shared the story on social media: “So… ROCK AND ROLL MOMENT… in Seville Wednesday during ‘Witches Burn’ of all songs… a BAT flew onto me and clung to my leg… in the moment I was performing and had no idea until the incredible crowd kept screaming and pointing. He was cute, but yes he bit me… so rabies shots for the next two weeks. Thanks to all the staff at the hospital who dubbed me batgirl after seeing it on the local news that morning.”
In fan-filmed footage of the incident, Momsen can be heard saying: “There is a f*cking flying bat on my leg right now. Can someone help me, please? I must really be a witch!”
The band’s crew removed the bat from her leg without harming it. Footage of the incident can be viewed below.
