“That ’70s Show” aired on Fox from 1998 to 2006. The hit TV series centered around a group of six teenage friends living in the fictional town of Point Place, Wisconsin in the late ’70s, and most of the cast has gone on to varying degrees of success.
A sequel to the series recently hit Netflix, “That ’90s Show,” which focuses on the kids of the main characters from “That ’70s Show” and again features Kurtwood Smith as Red Forman and Debra Jo Rupp as Kitty Forman. Some of the characters from the original cast also make cameos throughout the series.
Much like “That ’70s Show,” the sequel features numerous musical ties reflecting the songs of the ’90s.
Pantera’s “Cowboys From Hell” showed up in episode 9 of the first season titled “Dirty Double Booker” when Jackie and Kelso’s son Jay and his best friend Nate hit the gym for a pumped up, high energy workout. The song plays over a montage of the duo lifting.
Other music used in the series includes songs from Alanis Morissette, Collective Soul and Blind Melon. The “In the Street” theme song was also re-imagined by Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha and was sung by former Donnas vocalist Brett Anderson.
