Ozzy Reveals Doctors Gave Him Huge Amount Of Anaesthesia For Operation

About a month ago, legendary metal frontman Ozzy Osbourne underwent “a major operation,” according to his wife Sharon. She provided an update not long after the surgery saying: “Our family would like to express so much gratitude for the overwhelming amount of love and support leading up to Ozzy’s surgery! Ozzy is doing well and on the road to recovery! Your love means the world to him.”

A source close to the Osbourne family elaborated saying there would be “lengthy amount of convalescence” after the surgery. “Ozzy is 73 and any kind of surgery when you get older is difficult. This is quite major. He’s having the pins in his neck and back realigned from when he had a fall back in 2019. He’s been in a lot of pain.” Recently, Ozzy told SiriusXM about a previous procedure where the doctor had to administer a huge amount of anaesthetics given Osbourne’s high tolerance for drugs from his partying years. “I had a procedure when I was doing all this sh*t,” he said. “The guy putting the stuff in goes, ‘How long have you been doing this music?’ And I said so many years, and kept talking. And he goes, ‘Why aren’t you asleep yet?’”

Ozzy explained that docs gave him four times the usual amount of anaesthetic to send him to sleep. But Ozzy also added that his “wild days” are over. “The thing that keeps me away from it [drugs] now is I got real with me,” Ozzy said. “One of the main reasons I have embraced my family is because I am not out of my f*cking face any more,” he said.

Earlier this year, Ozzy confirmed to Classic Rock that he was “waiting on some more surgery” for his neck and said: “I can’t walk properly these days. I have physical therapy every morning. I am somewhat better, but nowhere near as much as I want to be to go back on the road.” He added: “At f*cking 73, I’ve done pretty well. I don’t plan on going anywhere, but my time’s going to come.” The singer said he hopes to have a No. 1 album before he retires. “I’m coming back to England this year, too. I’ve had enough of living out here [America] now. My intention was never to stay out here.”

Osbourne has had numerous health issues in recent years. In 2020 he suffered a fall, had neck surgery and was hospitalized for the flu. He initially scrapped his 2019 schedule as he recovered from surgery to fix an injury he sustained while dealing with pneumonia. More recently, the Osbourne family dealt with bouts of C*VID, and Ozzy, who revealed two years ago that he was battling Parkinson’s disease, also applied for permission for a “rehabilitation” wing at his home in Buckinghamshire, England.  Recently it was revealed that Ozzy’s new album, “Patient Number 9”, will be released on Sept. 9. The album’s title track and video, which includes guitarist Jeff Beck, was also released.
