Iconic rockers Motörhead have been eligible for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame since 2003. They’ve only been nominated once back in 2020, five years after frontman Lemmy Kilmister’s death.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Ozzy Osbourne would be entering the Rock Hall as a solo artist, and in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the Ozzman made the case for his old friends to get the honor soon.

“Motörhead have to be inducted,” he said. “They should definitely be in. In my opinion, Lemmy Kilmister was the ultimate metal guy. He lived blues, meth, and malt brews. And he was a dear friend of mine. I really miss not having Lemmy around anymore.

Ozzy continued: “What I liked about Lemmy is he didn’t give a f*ck who you were,” he added. “If you asked him a question, he’d tell you what he thought. If you asked what he thought of a song, he’d say, ‘It’s crap.’ And he’d tell you. And he’s like, ‘If you don’t like my answer, then don’t give me the question.’”

Ozzy also commented on Foreigner finally getting the honor, saying “they should have got in ages ago.” He’s not all that much of a fan of the band in its current incarnation, though.

“Foreigner now, that ain’t Foreigner,” Ozzy said. “It’s like a cover band.”

Motörhead, along with Iron Maiden, Bad Company, Blue Oyster Cult, Eddie Money, Jethro Tull, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, Devo, Bryan Adams, The Runaways, Sonic Youth and the New York Dolls are all among the biggest artists yet to be inducted.
