Earlier this Monday evening, WWE announced on WWE.com that NXT commentator Mauro Ranallo and themselves had agreed to amicably part ways. You can read their brief statement below.
Ranallo had two runs with WWE, the first between December 2015 and April 2017, which abruptly ended after alleged bullying by JBL. Ranallo, though, did deny this. He would rejoin the company in June 2017 as part of the NXT commentatory team. Unfortunately, this run did not go without incident as Ranallo missed some shows after Corey Graves criticized his work at TakeOver: WarGames. WWE covered for this by saying Ranello had lost his voice.
It’s understood that this time there are no dubious reasons for Ranallo leaving the company. It is because of a combination of his mother being unwell and him wanting a less stressful schedule. He does intend to continue working by commentating on boxing and MMA.
Ranallo missed WWE’s latest NXT’s TakeOver event, and Corey Graves filled in. Then WWE brought in Wade Barrett for last week’s NXT live episode and to tape this week’s upcoming show. It’s possible Barrett will now take the role full time alongside Vic Joseph and Beth Phoenix as hs been added back to WWE.com’s roster section and is believed to be in negotiations with the company.
