Earlier this week, Mötley Crüe announced that tour rehearsals would begin as the band gears up for “The World Tour” with Def Leppard. Shows begin next month in Mexico.

“42 years and I still get excited about the first day of band rehearsal. Here we go………..”, tweeted bassist Nikki Sixx.

New Mötley Crüe guitarist John 5 replied saying: “I’m more excited can’t wait buddy”.

Last year, Mötley Crüe announced that longtime Rob Zombie guitarist John 5 would replace co-founding member Mick Mars in a touring capacity. Mötley Crüe cited Mars’ long battle with ankylosing spondylitis as the reason the 71-year-old guitarist was stepping aside.

On Monday, Nikki Sixx tweeted an update on how rehearsals began.

“Well that was f*cking epic,” he wrote. “@john5guitarist walks into rehearsal and we just rip the set from top to bottom seamlessly. That took 90 minute’s and then the next few hours we just laughed and told dumb rockstar war stories. @MotleyCrue DAY 1.”

John 5 had been sharing numerous videos of himself jamming along to Mötley Crüe classics.

“He checks all the boxes,” Sixx said previously of the guitar virtuoso. “He’s an insane player. Has respect for our music, is funny as f*ck and has history with us and we’ve written some pretty big hits together.”

Former Mötley Crüe singer John Corabi said he didn’t believe the band’s statement saying Mick Mars stepped away. He feels Mars may have been forced out of the group.

“Just looking at things the way I look at ’em and I can’t help but think that they just went for the upgrade — in their minds,” Corabi said in an interview with Backstage Pass Rock News. “You do have a history there; the fans are used to that history.”
