Nikki Sixx Discusses The Future Of Motley Crue

Motley Crue is getting ready for another leg of touring alongside Def Leppard as well as Alice Cooper. The summer trek kicks off Aug. 5 and runs through Aug. 18.

The Crue has been in the headlines plenty for not only their tour but their very public split with former guitarist Mick Mars. Recently, Motley Crue and Def Leppard were interviewed by “60 Minutes” in Australia. Both bands say there’s no plan to slow down anytime soon.

“No, god. I’m not even legally at retirement age, so it’s not even on the horizon for me,” Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott said. “But no, [retirement’s] never crossed my mind. Because we enjoy doing what we do. We always have. Long may it last.”

Nikki Sixx agreed. “We’ve had each other’s backs through everything,” Sixx said of the band’s camaraderie. “3 of us have been to jail.”

The interviewer, Tara Brown, then asked a question referencing the band’s long and sometimes controversial history: “Are you not good for each other?”

Sixx replied: “Oh you mean like we’re in a toxic relationship?”

Crue singer Vince Neil chimed in: “I couldn’t imagine being in another band without these guys. It’s just magical when we hit the stage, crowd goes up, and we start playing. There’s something magical about it.”

“As mad as they seem to be, they’re actually really nice guys,” Elliot said of Motley Crue.

“I feel like our [middle] finger is about to go higher,” Sixx said. “I think we’re kind of in the ‘we-don’t-give-a-f*ck’ phase of our career.”
