Mike Tyson looked set to compete in AEW this year against Chris Jericho after crashing the Inner Circle pep-rally on Dynamite. However, he has since signed on to fight an eight-round exhibition boxing match against Roy Jones Jr. for charity. The fight was initially scheduled to occur on September 12 in Carson, California, but it has now been pushed back to November 28. The reason for the delay hasn’t been made public, but it’s been reported by Ring Magazine that Tyson’s team believes they can maximize revenue by rescheduling.
This past Saturday, on his Saturday Night Special, Chris Jericho confirmed a match against Mike Tyson in AEW is still on the table, stating he isn’t going anywhere and mentions there is an AEW pay-per-view planned in November.
Obviously, Jericho made this comment before news of the postponement broke, so sadly for AEW fans, it now seems the earliest Mike Tyson could compete in AEW would be at February’s Revolution pay-per-view. That said, AEW could reignite the angle at short notice and have the match at All Out on September 5, 2020.
