Mick Foley Shares His Opinion Of Controversial Blood Spot At Full Gear

Hardcore legend Mick Foley went above and beyond during his career to entertain fans, so if anybody was going to back the controversial blood-drinking/spitting that occurred during Adam Page and Swerve Strickland’s match at Full Gear, you would think it would be him. However, it turns out that despite spilling plenty of blood himself over the years, he was against the spot, revealing this during his latest podcast episode.

“I wish people wouldn’t drink each other’s blood in [my] day and age, let alone this one. I mean, heels used to do that. I remember even Tracy Smothers in Japan would do the deal where they, you know, suck the blood out of the opponent’s head and spit into the air. Maybe that had a time and place, but that time and place is over. Not a knock on the match, just looking out for everybody’s safety, knowing that people are going to possibly emulate what they see on TV.”

Even if you didn’t watch Full Gear, you’ve likely seen, or at least heard about the blood spot after multiple mainstream media outlets covered it, and it went viral on social media. Still, whether this is a positive for AEW is up for debate, as while some people believe any publicity is good publicity, there have been many, including Jim Cornette, who have spoken out about it and used it to criticize Tony Khan’s promotion.
