Metallica Will Premiere New Album In Special Way

Metallica released a third single/video from their forthcoming “72 Seasons” album earlier this week. “If Darkness Had A Son” is a dark, lengthy, mid-tempo jam that has drawn mostly positive reactions. Disturbed’s David Draiman commented on the tune via social media saying, “I dig. A lot.”

The song was preceded by the release of the tracks “Lux Æterna” and “Screaming Suicide” both of which sported a New Wave of British Heavy Metal vibe.

Metallica has also announced that they will hold a worldwide listening party for “72 Seasons” at select cinemas with every song on the album featuring its own music video and commentary from the band.

“72 Seasons” was produced by Greg Fidelman and features more than 77 minutes of music spread out over 12 songs. It’s the band’s first record since 2016’s “Hardwired… To Self-Destruct.”

The “72 Seasons” global premiere pairs up Metallica with Trafalgar Releasing, the production company that previously worked with the band on the cinematic release of “S&M2” which featured Metallica and the San Francisco Symphony celebrating that 20th anniversary of their original “S&M” release.

Fans can visit metallica.film for ticket information for the one-night only event set for April 13. The trailer for the global premiere is below as well as the new video for “If Darkness Had A Son.”
