Megadeth is out on the road with Lamb of God as part of “The Metal Tour of the Year,” and the band is gearing up to release a new album, “The Sick, The Dying And The Dead” in July. “I’m sure it could possibly be scooted forward a little bit, but I think that would actually be worse than if it stayed where it was at,” Mustaine said. “We need every little bit of time to let people get everything all set up with all this C*VID sh*t. It’s been really difficult to ship anything, let alone records.”

During the current tour, Mustaine has taken to the mic a bit more than usual, and he recently told the story of when he “peed on the floor” of the White House bathroom in the early ’90s. “When I went up to the White House, I was so proud to be able to go up there and say,F*ck you. You think we’re stupid? We are not stupid, motherf*ckers.’ By the way, when I went into the White House, I went into the royal — whatever the f*ck it’s called — White House bathroom, and I peed on the floor. I had to. I HAD to.”

At Tuesday night’s show in Colorado Springs, Mustaine took issue with people that object to his stage banter. “The last couple of nights I’ve been talking from the stage,” he said. “It’s been a long time, and we’ve all been waiting for live music again. And there’s some people who have taken exception to some things that I’ve said from the stage the last couple of nights. And I thought to myself, ‘Well, if you don’t like what I’m saying, why are you at a Megadeth concert?’ If you don’t like what I’m saying, f*ck you. First Amendment, right? Freedom of speech. F*ck you. That’s what I say. Don’t take sh*t from anybody ever.”

Mustaine recently revealed that Testament bassist Steve DiGiorgio replaced the tracks cut by original bassist David Ellefson on the band’s new album. “We obviously had that weird little…well, it wasn’t little, but we had something happen that we needed to make a decision on, and it set us back a little bit timing-wise, because we needed to recalibrate and find someone to perform the bass parts, and we found who I thought was the perfect fit for us while I decided what to do… Do you know who it was? …It was Steve DiGiorgio. You’re the first person I told,” Mustaine said to SiriusXM Liquid Metal host Jose Mangin. “It was a good choice. I didn’t think about anybody else at the time. I was thinking about ‘who’s the hottest guy out there that can play these new songs?’ [Mustaine’s son] Justis told me one of the fastest songs we’ve ever written is on this record. I don’t care what anybody says — bass may be less strings than guitar, but it’s difficult to play, if you’re like me. I have a real hard time playing the bass. I wrote the riff for ‘Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying?’ for Pete’s sake, but you know… having to jam some of those parts that fast, it just kills your fingers.”
