This past weekend, Bret Hart grabbed headlines after stating during an appearance that he believed that Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels were secret lovers. Yet while no concrete evidence has ever been provided that the pair were ever more than boss and employee, this type of seedy locker-room gossip has gone on for decades. And now Michaels’ long-term tag partner, Marty Jannetty, has acknowledged this bombshell claim during a new podcast interview and supported Hart’s claim.
Michaels and Jannetty formed The Rockers in 1985 and would find fame in the AWA before joining WWE and feuding with teams such as the Brain Busters, the Hart Foundation, and the Orient Express. However, in 1992, McMahon would decide to split the duo, giving both men an opportunity to be singles performers, with Michaels’ career ultimately surpassing Jannetty’s in every way.
