Former AEW Women’s Champion Mariah May debuted the new ring name “Blake Monroe” via a Sabrina Carpenter-inspired vignette during this week’s episode of NXT. And while not officially confirmed, it’s believed she personally came up with the name due to “Blake” being the name of her niece, while “Monroe” is almost certainly based on Marilyn Monroe.
However, in what could prove embarrassing for WWE and perhaps even force a further name change, as X user @IANdrewDiceClay user has discovered that a retired adult actress previously used the name “Blake Monroe.“
As the name’s connection to adult content was seemingly uncovered by a simple Google search, it suggests someone at WWE failed to do the relevant research beforehand. Still, this isn’t the first time WWE has failed to do basic checks, as previously company had to drop Gunther’s planned surname of “Stark” at the last minute after it was discovered that it would mean his name would match a Nazi U-boat commander.
