Rocker/rapper Machine Gun Kelly performed on Sunday at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas. Billed as the only rocker on the program, MGK performed “Twin Flame” from his recent album, “Mainstream Sellout.” The album was his second straight No. 1 record after 2020’s “Tickets to My Downfall” reached the top of the charts.
Kelly said “I wrote this song for my wife,” prior to performing. He is engaged to actress Megan Fox, and the couple recently revealed that after the engagement took place, they drank each other’s blood. “In July of 2020 we sat under this banyan tree,” Fox posted on her Instagram. “We asked for magic. We were oblivious to the pain we would face together in such a short, frenetic period of time. Unaware of the work and sacrifices the relationship would require from us but intoxicated off of the love. And the karma. Somehow a year and a half later, having walked through hell together, and having laughed more than I ever imagined possible, he asked me to marry him. And just as in every lifetime before this one, and as in every lifetime that will follow it, I said yes. … and then we drank each other’s blood.”
During the song, MGK said “This is for our unborn child,” and Fox could be seen in the crowd with tears in her eyes. A heartbeat can be heard in the background of the song, but it stops just before the final lines: “Go to sleep, I’ll see you in my dream, this changes everything, now I have set you free.”
Fans have speculated that Fox experienced a miscarriage. One fan posted a photo on Instagram with a message MGK wrote about “Twin Flame” for a behind-the-scenes promo of “Mainstream Sellout.” “The second part of this song came almost two years later,” reads the message. “Well actually it started as a song called ‘One Day and 10 Weeks.’ Then I made a song called ‘Last November.’ Neither expressed the sadness we experienced from what I will leave private, and I circled back to this song and decided to add onto the story. Our story.”
