Living Colour Pays Tribute To Sinéad O’Connor (w/Video)

Hundreds of people in Ireland lined the streets on Tuesday to pay tribute to late singer Sinéad O’Connor. Fans and supporters cheered, clapped and threw flowers as her funeral procession drove past her house.

O’Connor passed away late last month at the age of 56.

Known most for her 1990 breakthrough single, a cover of Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U,” O’Connor became a polarizing figure when she tore up a picture of the Pope during an appearance on “Saturday Night Live.”

Living Colour, known to many wrestling fans through CM Punk’s use of their hit “Cult Of Personality” as entrance music, also paid tribute to O’Connor earlier this month by performing “Nothing Compares 2 U.”

Living Colour frontman Corey Glover said: “Hey, we know it’s a little late but we thought we’d do it anyway. This is for Sinéad.”

O’Connor explained why she tore up the Pope’s picture in the documentary “Nothing Compares” which was released last year. “I had come across an article about families who had been trying to lodge complaints against the church for sexual abuse and were being silenced,” she said. “Basically, everything I had been raised to believe was a lie.”

Police found O’Connor unresponsive in a London apartment on July 26. Her passing is not being treated as suspicious.
