Lio Rush Forced To Miss New Japan Shows

In unfortunate news, it has been announced by New Japan via NJPW1972.com that Lio Rush will miss their events in Iwate and Aomori this week. The Impact Wrestling star is apparently sick and will be replaced on the shows by Ryusuke Taguchi. Precisely what the illness is wasn’t disclosed, but hopefully, he will be healthy enough to compete at Destruction on October 9th, where he is booked to wrestle Hiromu Takahashi and Mike Bailey in a featured match.

ā€œDue to illness, Lio Rush will be absent from live events this week in Iwate and Aomori. Rush will be replaced by Ryusuke Taguchi October 4 and 5. We apologise to fans who were looking forward to seeing Lio wrestle and appreciate your understanding. NJPW joins fans in wishing Lio a full and fast recovery.ā€

Most fans are familiar with 28-year-old Rush for his time in WWE, where he held the NXT Cruiserweight Championship and managed Bobby Lashley. Additionaly, he is known for wrestling five times for AEW in 2021. However, he has developed a reputation for getting backstage heat due to alleged attitude problems and has announced his retirement from the business on more than one occasion. Still, he hasn’t had any negative headlines recently and appears to be happy having found a home in both New Japan and Impact Wrestling.
