Singer Emily Armstrong joined nu metal legends Linkin Park in 2024, and the band has since released a critically acclaimed new album, “From Zero,” and has been selling out venues around the world.
Armstrong revealed to Zach Sang that she’s a longtime fan of the band, and in particular the group’s landmark 2000 album “Hybrid Theory.”
“‘One Step Closer’ was everything,” she explained. “That scream — or not scream, but the ‘Shut up when I’m talking to you!’ That was like, ‘Oh my god. I’ve found my motto, my angst.’ I was maybe 12, and I was like, ‘This is it. This is f*cking it.”
Armstrong continued: “And then of course, I was so obsessed with that album. I was starting a band at the time and I was like, ‘This is what I wanna do. This is how I wanna sing.’ If he could sing and scream, it was like, ‘Yeah, cool!’ I didn’t realise until later that a lot of people can do that!”
